How to read commodity prices
Commodities trade on exchanges as futures, contracts for delivery at a later date. This page shows the front-month contract, the price quoted by news wires and terminals and the benchmark for banks and suppliers. Each commodity has its own unit: barrels for oil, troy ounces for gold, pounds for copper and coffee, bushels for grain.
