What moves the gasoline price
RBOB is the NYMEX contract for wholesale gasoline delivered in New York Harbor. It excludes taxes, distribution and station margins, so pump prices are well above it.
Gasoline tends to rise in spring as refiners switch to summer blends and US driving season starts, then eases in autumn. The gap between gasoline and crude, the crack spread, tracks refining margins.
