What moves the heating oil price
The NYMEX ultra-low-sulfur diesel contract, historically called heating oil, is the US benchmark for diesel and jet fuel.
Diesel tracks freight, industrial activity and winter weather more closely than gasoline. Restrictions on Russian diesel exports moved it sharply in 2022 and 2023.
