BNB is the token of the Binance ecosystem, the world's largest crypto exchange. It launched in 2017 as a way to get discounts on trading fees and later became the native coin of BNB Chain, an Ethereum-compatible smart contract network.
On BNB Chain it pays for transaction fees, secures validators through staking and is used across DeFi apps. On the exchange it gives fee discounts and access to Launchpool and similar programs. Binance regularly burns part of the supply, gradually reducing the total number of tokens.
