Solana is preparing the Alpenglow update for launch on the public testnet, aiming to reduce transaction finality from the current 12.8 seconds to approximately 150 milliseconds—an almost 85-fold improvement.

According to the team, this will allow exchanges, bridges, and payment services to consider transactions irreversible almost instantly, streamlining listings, cross-network transfers, and payment processing.

The mainnet launch date for Alpenglow has not yet been announced.
