On August 24, the liquid staking team at Kinetiq announced they’re launching a new L2 network called Elysium, purpose-built for the Hyperliquid ecosystem. According to the devs, Elysium is designed to ramp up HyperEVM’s throughput and make launching spot markets, tokens, and DeFi apps way more accessible and straightforward.
HyperCore Integration and HYPE Gas Fees
On Elysium, gas fees will be paid in HYPE tokens. The team also plans to hook the new network directly into the HyperCore trading engine. This means apps built on Elysium will get direct access to Hyperliquid’s liquidity and order book data—potentially a big win for anyone building DeFi platforms inside the ecosystem.
Tech Specs and Launch Timeline
No hard launch date for Elysium yet. The devs say they’ll drop more details on the tech specs and reveal their partners down the line. For now, the main focus for the new L2 is scaling HyperEVM and making it easier to roll out new DeFi solutions.
What This Means for Hyperliquid
The Elysium announcement could be a big deal for Hyperliquid’s growth, since the new network aims to boost performance and open up more possibilities for both builders and users. Expect the launch to put more eyes on the HYPE token and unlock fresh use cases for it across DeFi apps.
