Canadian company Xanadu Quantum Technologies Limited has rolled out its development roadmap, with the goal of scaling up to over 1,000 logical qubits by 2031. Getting there means moving toward fault-tolerant quantum computing and building out a dedicated quantum data center.

Roadmap and Milestones

Xanadu's targets for scaling logical qubits are clear: up to 200 by 2029, 500 by 2030, and more than 1,000 by 2031. These numbers are set as ambitious milestones for the coming years.

Where Things Stand Now

As of now, these performance levels haven't been reached—these are forward-looking technology goals, not capabilities the company currently has in production.

What's in the Plan

Shifting to fault-tolerant quantum computing is a key step on Xanadu’s path to scaling logical qubits. The plan also calls for building a quantum data center to host and operate the necessary infrastructure.
