World Labs, founded by AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li—the same mind behind the creation of ImageNet—has made waves again. On September 1, 2026, the team rolled out Atlas, a neural network built to generate and reconstruct 3D scenes. For now, Atlas is only available to a select group of partners by application.
Atlas: AI for 3D Scene Generation and Reconstruction
Atlas is designed to both create and restore full 3D environments. At launch, it focuses on handling complete three-dimensional scenes, blending generation and reconstruction capabilities in a single model. The announcement didn’t go deep on technical specs just yet.
Funding and Investors
World Labs has pulled in a massive $1 billion round. Backers include AMD, Autodesk, NVIDIA, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Sea, and Emerson Collective—a mix of tech giants and major finance players.
Access for Partners
Right now, Atlas is invite-only: only approved partners who apply get to try it out. There’s no word yet on when or if it’ll go public or scale up access.
