Ukraine's State Financial Monitoring Service has busted a crypto network set up to dodge Russian sanctions and funnel funds to terrorism. The operation was run through a Ukrainian citizen's account on an undisclosed crypto exchange, according to agency head Filipp Pronin.
What We Know
Investigators say all the suspicious transactions went through a single exchange account owned by a Ukrainian national. They aren't naming the platform. The watchdog reports that the account was used for transactions with both sanctioned Russian services and wallets tied to an unnamed international terrorist organization.
Transaction Volumes
Roughly $13 million moved through the account in question. Out of that, $3.5 million was linked to sanctioned Russian services and accounts that, according to the agency, are affiliated with an international terrorist group.
