Ukraine's National Police announced they've taken down a network of fake investment platforms that stole crypto from users in more than 20 countries. Investigators say the organized group disguised their scam sites to look like legit services for investing in digital assets.
How Big Was the Operation—and Who Was Involved?
According to the investigation, the ringleader recruited over 46 Ukrainian citizens into the scheme. The crew split up responsibilities: some handled building and maintaining the scam websites, while others communicated with potential victims to keep up the appearance of a real investment business.
How the Scam Worked
The fraudsters set up websites that mimicked real investment platforms and convinced users to sign up. Through these sites, they stole crypto from clients around the world, taking advantage of trust and interfaces that looked nearly identical to legit platforms.
Police say the network's operations are now shut down. No further details on the investigation or other suspects were shared in the announcement.
