Donald Trump has floated the idea of renaming the Strait of Hormuz to the "Trump Strait." He shared the suggestion in a post on Truth Social.

What Trump Said

In his post, Trump asked whether it was time to rename the strait, writing: "Now that the Strait of Hormuz is under US control, shouldn’t we call it the TRUMP STRAIT??? Just like America itself, it would be ‘hotter’ than ever before! Thanks for paying attention to this issue."

What We Know So Far

This is a public statement and proposal. Trump didn’t share any details about how the renaming would work, a timeline, or any further clarification in his post.
