Trezor has confirmed a major data breach impacting more than 13,000 of its customers. The leak happened after a cyberattack hit their logistics partner, ShipMonk, which handles shipping for Trezor devices.
What Happened with the ShipMonk Hack?
Because of the incident, attackers got access to information tied to customers who placed Trezor orders. Trezor clarified that the breach wasn't due to any fault on their end, but was instead caused by ShipMonk's system being compromised.
What Customer Data Was Exposed?
The exposed data includes personal information linked to order processing and shipping. Trezor hasn't shared the full list of compromised details, but stressed that only customers whose orders were fulfilled through ShipMonk are affected.
Trezor's Response and What Users Should Do
Trezor has notified affected users and urges everyone to stay alert: don't respond to sketchy emails and never share your seed phrase. The company emphasized that the security of Trezor hardware wallets themselves wasn't impacted, and no users' crypto assets are at risk from this breach.
