Stand With Crypto has announced its support for several candidates in the upcoming US Congress elections, 34 days ahead of the midterms: for the Senate—Republicans Jon Husted (Ohio) and Ashley Hinson (Iowa), and Democrat Chris Pappas (New Hampshire); for the House of Representatives—Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks (Iowa) and Democrat Shomari Figures (Alabama).
The organization, launched by Coinbase in 2023 to promote "clear, sound rules for the crypto industry," is taking these steps amid polls indicating that Democrats are favored to regain control of both chambers in 2027. A potential shift in the majority could influence lawmakers' approach to initiatives such as the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act.
CLARITY Vote Fails on September 15
The digital asset market structure bill did not secure enough votes for a key procedural vote in the Republican-controlled Senate earlier this month, after passing the House of Representatives in 2025 with bipartisan support. Following the setback on September 15, Stand With Crypto warned of "consequences" for lawmakers who did not support the initiative. In August, the organization also endorsed 32 House candidates, calling them "proven champions of digital asset policy."
PAC Funding: $30M for Husted and $82M Nationwide
Among the campaign contributions is Fairshake PAC, funded primarily by Coinbase, Ripple Labs, and Andreessen Horowitz. The committee initially pledged to spend $30 million to support Husted against Sherrod Brown in Ohio and had spent $82 million on candidates nationwide as of June. In 2024, outside groups directed over $300 million to Ohio; Brown lost to Bernie Moreno.
