There’s a new scam making the rounds in Russia: fraudsters are pretending to be worried neighbors, messaging about a 'suspicious person' lurking by your door and offering a video as proof. The attachment looks totally legit, but there’s no security footage—just trouble.
How the scam works
The victim gets a panicked message about someone hanging around their door, quickly followed by an alleged 'video proof.' The file or link seems convincing, but it’s actually a malicious link or file designed to let scammers break into your device and grab your personal info.
What the scammers want
This whole scheme is about getting deeper access to your data: everything on your device, your personal details, and even your state services and banking apps. If you click the link or open the file, your device and accounts could be wide open for unauthorized access.
