Sberbank is looking to roll out loans backed by BTC, ETH, and USDT. The launch hinges on new regulations coming into force and the Russian Central Bank officially allowing these crypto assets for public trading.

Launch Conditions

The bank is tying the product launch directly to the regulatory framework: all new rules must be fully implemented, and the regulator has to give the green light for BTC, ETH, and USDT to be publicly traded in Russia. Until these requirements are met, Sberbank won't move forward with the service.

International Business Payments

Beyond crypto-backed loans, Sberbank also plans to launch international business payments in digital currencies right from its mobile app by the end of 2026.

What We Know So Far

The bank hasn't set a firm timeline for launching the loan product—everything depends on regulatory sign-off. BTC, ETH, and USDT are being considered as collateral, but Sberbank hasn't revealed details on loan terms or which clients will be eligible.
