Russia now has a front-runner for the role of self-regulatory organization (SRO) for crypto exchanges. On September 1, Moscow hosted a meeting of the Association of Organizations Engaged in Digital Currency Exchange (AOTSV). According to its website, the group is actively working toward gaining SRO status.

What happened

The AOTSV gathering in Moscow positioned the association as a central hub for players in Russia’s digital currency exchange market. Their official site makes it clear: the organization is preparing to file for SRO status.

What is AOTSV?

The association was founded in 2026, right after Russia rolled out new digital currency regulations. AOTSV’s mission is to give crypto exchanges a unified voice and develop proposals for talks with the Bank of Russia. The group also says it issues industry recommendations.

Why SRO status matters

AOTSV says it’s aiming for official self-regulatory organization status. If they get it, the association plans to bring together the key players in Russia’s crypto exchange market and act as the main channel of communication with regulators.
