Rosfinmonitoring has proposed blocking bank accounts for up to five business days if the account holder's data is similar to that of a person whose funds are subject to freezing. Following the adoption of this measure, the number of such account freezes could increase by 20%.

The goal is to close loopholes for malicious actors

The initiative aims to prevent attempts to circumvent restrictions by exploiting matching or similar personal data. According to the agency, a temporary freeze when similarities are detected would provide time for verification and help prevent unauthorized access to funds.

The measure calls for a short-term freeze—up to five business days—when financial institutions and authorized bodies have reasonable doubts due to similarities between a client's information and that of an individual whose assets are to be frozen. The number of account freezes is expected to rise by 20% if this procedure is implemented.
