Crypto trading on Robinhood saw a serious uptick in August, with total volume jumping 61%. Still, activity is running 38% below where it was a year ago, highlighting the ongoing year-over-year slowdown in trading action.
August by the Numbers
Bitstamp made a big splash in Robinhood’s August stats, handling $10.1 billion of the platform’s crypto volume for the month. Meanwhile, trading volume inside the Robinhood app itself dropped 46% compared to last year.
Short-Term Bounce, Long-Term Dip
This mix of strong month-over-month growth and a year-over-year decline shows a split trend: short-term activity is rebounding, but the base is still way softer than last summer.
Where the Flows Went
The numbers point to a major chunk of August’s volume running through Bitstamp, while Robinhood’s own app flow kept sliding year-over-year.
