Italian telecom provider Sparkle and European satellite operator Hellas Sat have rolled out a quantum-resistant satellite link connecting Greece and Cyprus. According to both companies, this is the first-ever channel of its kind between the two countries.
Who’s Involved & The Route
The connection runs from Sparkle’s data center in Athens to Hellas Sat’s facilities in Cyprus, using an active satellite channel. The full route covers about 72,000 km between Cyprus and Greece.
The Security Tech
Data is protected using Quantum Safe Interconnect (QSI), which delivers quantum-resistant key distribution. This is the first channel between two countries to use this setup—leveraging existing satellite infrastructure and QSI for next-level key exchange protection.
