Brazil's state oil company Petrobras has launched two research projects based on Cardano. The initiatives aim to apply blockchain technology to the accounting and verification of the origin of environmentally friendly fuels.

The first pilot focuses on sustainable aviation fuel: Cardano is planned to be used for tracking certificates and preventing double counting of emissions reductions. The second project is designed to monitor the supply chain of diesel with renewable components, from production to end use.
