Mexican authorities are investigating electricity theft after dismantling an underground crypto mining operation in Puebla state. According to the regional Public Security Secretariat, the farm was illegally drawing power straight from a federal hydroelectric facility.

What Happened

Law enforcement tore down the mining setup and launched a probe into the unauthorized use of electricity. During the raid, officers seized a batch of equipment used for crypto mining and tapping into the power grid.

Location and Power Scheme

The farm was found in the municipality of Tlaola, up in northern Puebla. The operation was stashed in a remote area near the Nuevo Necaxa reservoir, with an illegal hookup to the federal hydroelectric system.

What Was Seized and What’s Next

Officials say around 300 specialized mining rigs were confiscated, along with transformers and medium-voltage gear. The investigation into how the crew siphoned off electricity is still ongoing.
