Meta is working on a new pair of smart glasses—this time, with no camera—after complaints about secret recording with Ray-Ban Meta. The project, codenamed Luna, hasn’t been officially announced yet, but sales could kick off as soon as October.
What We Know About Luna
The Luna glasses drop the camera entirely. Instead, they’ll pack six microphones for voice chats with Meta AI and the personal AI assistant, Muse. You’ll trigger the assistant with a button on the arm. The speakers are the same as the ones in Ray-Ban Meta glasses, but the arms are slimmer in this model.
Why No Camera?
Meta’s ditching the camera after users complained about covert recording with the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. With Luna, the focus shifts to voice interaction and using the AI assistant—no video features this time around.
Timeline and Status
The device hasn’t been officially unveiled yet. Reports say Luna could hit the market as soon as October, but other specs and launch details are still under wraps.
