Hyundai Card is doubling down on its partnership with Avalanche, moving to scale up its Bitcoin strategy after a successful stablecoin pilot in June. The company is gearing up to test its operational model at a larger scale to see if it really makes economic sense.
Pilot: Seven Minutes Instead of Hours
Hyundai Motor Group’s financial arm ran a cross-border payment test from the US to Mexico using stablecoins. The transfer? $200,000, and it cleared in about seven minutes—way faster than the usual 3–4 hour wait. The transaction moved between Hyundai Motor Group entities on the Avalanche network.
What’s Next
Next up: stress-testing the same model at scale. Hyundai Card wants to see if the process and costs hold up when volumes get bigger, before rolling out these solutions more broadly as part of its Bitcoin strategy.
Why Hyundai Card Chose Avalanche
The pilot slashed cross-border payment times compared to old-school banking. Building on June’s results, Hyundai Card is planning expanded tests to prove the economics and real-world viability of the solution.
