GoPlus researchers reported that hackers took control of both the Real Trump Coins website and its X account. Using the project’s official channels, the attackers launched and hyped up a meme coin called GOLD, then pulled off a cash-out scheme.
How the scam played out
With full access to Real Trump Coins’ official comms, the scammers made the GOLD launch look totally legit. They managed to pump the token’s market cap to $60 million, then tanked the price and walked away with more than $8.2 million in profits.
PLATINUM token: a major risk for holders
GoPlus says the same group is likely behind the PLATINUM token. Its smart contract is designed so the attackers can drain the entire balance of any holder—basically a built-in rug pull, making the asset super risky to own.
What is Real Trump Coins?
