Google is expanding its pilot program that pays publishers for content used to power Gemini chatbot and AI search features. The initiative, called the AI Contribution Pilot, is designed to reward creators whose material ends up in generative AI responses.

How it works in Search Console

Publishers who join the AI Contribution Pilot now see a dedicated 'AI earnings' widget in Google Search Console. This widget shows their monthly payout and a brief payment history, making AI revenue a standalone line item in the console's monetization dashboard.

Payout model

Payouts aren't based on how much your content is used, but on how valuable Google thinks it is for AI answers. Publishers only get paid when Google itself decides their contribution adds value—not just from raw impression or usage counts.
