Finam Group is gearing up to enter the Russian crypto market in two roles—as a broker and a crypto exchange. The company plans to focus on launching and developing these services, building out the infrastructure for clients to on-ramp and swap digital assets.

What Finam Has in the Works

The model includes brokerage support for digital asset transactions and exchange services. This setup lets Finam break into the market without sinking a ton of capital into storage solutions, letting them zero in on customer service and streamlined operations.

Digital Depository Put on Ice Over Costs

Finam has scrapped the idea of launching its own digital depository: the project would have required at least 3 billion rubles in investment with payback taking 8+ years. Right now, the company isn’t willing to tie up that much capital for so long, so they’re betting on less capital-intensive plays—brokerage and exchange.

This move lets them hit the market faster and test demand, all while keeping their business model flexible. Rolling out a depository isn’t in the cards for now, but they might circle back if the financials and ROI timeline look better down the road.
