EEZ has tested an atomic transaction between the Ethereum mainnet and an L2 network. On Tuesday, project participant Eduardo Antuña Díez shared the operation, which he described as "the first atomic cross-chain L1-to-L2 transaction." Logs show a cross-chain call transferring 0.001 ETH and updating the state for the rollup.

In an atomic transaction, related actions across different networks are either all executed or fully rolled back if any part fails. In March, EEZ developers said their framework is designed to let rollups and the Ethereum mainnet interact within a single transaction without using bridges, aiming to reconnect liquidity and applications spread across separate L2s.

Lack of Synchronous Composability Splits Liquidity on L2

Gnosis co-founder Friederike Ernst previously noted that the lack of synchronous composability forces protocols to maintain separate deployments on different L2s, which fragments liquidity across multiple markets.

Demonstration Called "One of the Most Important Milestones"

Hydration DeFi protocol co-founder Jakub Gregus described the demonstration as "one of the most important milestones" in the crypto industry and added that the technology could directly benefit Ethereum.
