For the first time in Denmark, a payment was made using an AI agent: Danske Bank and Mastercard teamed up for a transaction where a digital assistant, following a user's request, independently picked out a service, handled the booking, and paid for it with a bank card.
How the Payment Worked
The assistant got a task from the user, found and booked a coffee tasting on Priceless.com, then kicked off the payment using a Danske Bank card. The transaction was processed with Mastercard's Agent Pay tech and backed by PayOS.
The digital assistant handled the whole flow—from picking the offer to paying the bill. The payment ran through card rails, leveraging solutions from Mastercard and PayOS.
Who Was Involved & Where It Happened
Danske Bank and Mastercard were in on the process; the service selection and booking went down on Priceless.com. The transaction itself ran on Mastercard Agent Pay, with PayOS in the mix.
Denmark’s First AI-Agent Payment
This marks the country's first payment initiated by an AI agent: the assistant took care of picking and booking the service and wrapped up the payment with a card, all settled through Mastercard Agent Pay with PayOS support.
