A vulnerability in the shared Cosmos EVM module led to attacks on three separate blockchains. The Cosmos Labs team has recommended that all affected networks temporarily halt block production and update their software.
What Happened
The Cosmos EVM is an open-source module that lets blockchains built on the Cosmos SDK run Ethereum-compatible smart contracts. Since multiple networks use the same codebase, a single bug can potentially impact the entire ecosystem layer.
Which Chains Were Hit
The attacks took place between August 20 and 22, targeting Mantra, TAC, and KiiChain.
Cosmos Labs’ Recommendations
Cosmos Labs is advising affected blockchains to pause block production and apply software updates. The announcement was posted on Twitter: link.
