Crypto exchange CoinEx has announced plans to shut down and phase out all of its services by December 2026. The company cited the prolonged crypto bear market, shrinking trading volumes and liquidity, and increasingly tough regulatory and compliance requirements in key regions as reasons for the decision.
What This Means for Users
CoinEx says it’s maintaining asset reserves of over 100%. According to the exchange, all user funds are fully backed and will stay available for withdrawals throughout the wind-down process.
Why CoinEx Is Closing
The move comes as a result of several factors: a drawn-out market downturn, falling trading activity and liquidity, and tighter regulatory and compliance demands in major jurisdictions. Against this backdrop, CoinEx is rolling out a step-by-step shutdown of all products and services.
Timeline: Until December 2026
CoinEx has set a gradual closure timeline, aiming to wrap up all operations by December 2026. The exchange says users will be able to withdraw their assets until the shutdown process is complete.
