Bitwise has launched the first US spot ETF for NEAR: the Bitwise NEAR ETF, ticker NRR, began trading on NYSE Arca, charges a 0.75% fee, and will hold NEAR directly. The company also plans to stake a significant portion of the fund’s tokens.
NEAR Intents volume surpasses $32B in one year
The launch coincided with a sharp increase in activity on NEAR Intents, the network’s cross-chain protocol. According to Bitwise, transaction volume exceeded $32 billion, up from less than $1 billion a year ago. Amid this surge, the NEAR token has gained about 167% over the past month, trading around $4.94 on Tuesday, and is up approximately 81% year-over-year.
NRR expands Bitwise’s single-asset crypto product line
NRR joins Bitwise’s US lineup of single-asset products tracking Bitcoin (BITB), Ether (ETHW), Solana (BSOL), XRP (XRP), and Hyperliquid (BHYP). The company has been working on a US NEAR ETF since June 2025, after launching a European exchange-traded product for NEAR.
Focus on AI agents and cross-chain infrastructure
Bitwise sees growing adoption of NEAR by autonomous AI agents and expects this trend to strengthen. In 2024, the network shifted its focus toward AI, cross-chain infrastructure, and autonomous agents. Broader market interest in this area is also supported by traditional financial institutions: BlackRock recently noted that AI agents could increase demand for stablecoins, cryptocurrencies, and tokenized assets.
NEAR Intents reports blocking transfers linked to Bitget
The protocol’s role in moving assets between networks was highlighted this week: NEAR Intents reported blocking over $50 million in attempted transfers related to the $387.5 million Bitget hack. The SHIELD system froze about $503,000 during transaction processing, while approximately $166,000 in suspicious funds passed through the protocol.
