Bitget resumed Bitcoin (BTC) withdrawals on Monday after a suspension following a hack that affected $387.5 million. As security checks are completed, withdrawals for other assets will be restored in stages over the coming days.
ETH on Tuesday, USDT on Wednesday; other assets by Friday
According to the announced schedule, Ether (ETH) withdrawals will resume on Tuesday across Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism networks. Tether USDt (USDT) withdrawals will return on Wednesday for Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Solana, and Tron networks. Withdrawals for other assets and p2p services are planned to launch by Friday. The schedule applies to all users—there are no priorities for institutions, VIP clients, or employees.
September 24 hack affected hot and warm wallets
The security incident occurred on September 24 and affected part of Bitget's hot and warm wallet infrastructure; cold wallets remained secure. After accounting for additional transfers on the Zcash and Tron networks, the exchange revised the affected asset total from $351.6 million to $387.5 million. BTC withdrawals on the Bitcoin and BNB Smart Chain networks were the first to be restored.
Hacker moves ETH via THORChain; no selective freezing
The attacker continues to move stolen cryptocurrency through THORChain, swapping ETH for BTC. In response to Bitget's request to restrict access for addresses linked to the hack, THORChain stated that halting the network is an emergency mechanism that affects the entire protocol and does not allow for selective freezing of specific funds or individual swaps.
