Bitcoin saw a sharp reaction right after the August US inflation numbers dropped: as soon as the report hit, BTC on Binance slid from above $77,000 down to $76,000, bottoming out at $76,037. But within the next 30 minutes, the price clawed its way back, erasing the dip entirely.
Inside the Latest Inflation Report
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August rose 0.4% month-over-month, up from July’s 0.1%. According to the BLS, annual inflation held steady at 3.4%. Core CPI—which strips out food and energy—was up 0.3% for the month, beating expectations of 0.2%. Year-over-year, core inflation eased from 2.5% to 2.4%.
How Bitcoin Reacted
Just before the CPI numbers went public, bitcoin was trading above $77,000 on Binance. Right after the release, the price dropped to $76,037. But in the next half hour, the market bounced back to pre-news levels, showing just how fast crypto can swing on macro headlines.
