The Bank of Russia has proposed tightening controls on the export of cash rubles and gold. Bogdan Shablya, head of the financial monitoring and currency control service at the Bank of Russia, stated that the current rules need to be revised. Bogdan Shablya said the existing regulations require further development.

Unified database for monitoring and accounting exported funds

According to the regulator, a single bank statement is sometimes used to export multiple batches of cash. To verify documents and track exported funds, authorities plan to create a unified database.

Current restrictions on the export of rubles and gold

Currently, individuals are restricted from exporting rubles to EAEU countries in amounts equivalent to $100,000 or more, and from exporting gold bars abroad weighing more than 100 grams, with some exceptions. New limits have not yet been announced.
