On October 2, the government of Argentina introduced a citizenship-by-investment program (document), with applications expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2026. There are two main options: a non-refundable contribution of $350,000 or an investment of $800,000 in a special government bond. This is the first full-scale 'golden passport' program in South America.
Fixed additional fees for family members
An additional payment of $100,000 is required for a spouse. For each child under 18, the fee is $25,000; for each child aged 18–25, the fee is $100,000. For example, a family of two adults and two minor children would pay $500,000.
No residency requirement and dual citizenship allowed
Relocation and permanent residence in the country are not required. After verification of the source of funds, background, and reliability, the applicant receives full citizenship. Dual citizenship is permitted, and an Argentine passport provides access to about 168 visa-free destinations.
