What Is a Crypto Whale and How to Track One
A whale holds a position large enough that their trades visibly move the market.
There is no exact threshold: for bitcoin a whale is usually an address with 1,000 BTC or more, for trading an account with positions worth tens of millions of dollars.
On centralised exchanges whale positions are hidden; only large orders and trades show. On Hyperliquid everything is public: an address reveals positions, leverage and liquidation price.
Watching whales is useful, copying them blindly is not: a large position can be a hedge or one leg of a strategy you cannot see.
